Just cleaning the DCOE 45s on the Fulvia (only had it a week or so), and noticed that one of the chokes is 32mm, and the other three are 34mm. I'm assuming that it's a mistake - and that they should all be equal? Is there any reason why this might be intentional?

36 works great on correctly jetted 45 DHLA’s I have on my Fulvia 1600... The std solex 42 had 34 chokes.

I’m no expert, but it doesn’t sound right to me. When I bought my car, it had an odd size trumpet, which was duly rectified, so it can happen!

I've got some 36mm chokes coming and 2 refurb kits. Can anyone recommend a good cleaning product for the inside and outside of the carb bodies? A brass wire brush seemed to clean up the outside pretty well, and a blast of carb cleaner moves some grime, but they could look better. I don't really want to have them vapor blasted - they go a bit pale and look porous.

I used a friends ultrasonic bath and cleaner some years ago which worked really well, although it was quite a large one

Use an ultrasonic cleaner with some correct carb cleaning solution added to the water, you will be amazed what comes out of them and they look a whole lot better too.

Fulvia likes bigger than "normal" chokes cf inline engined cars. However, unique cranked over v4 layout means unequal length inlet tracts which have room for experimentation. This might be such as with inlet trumpet sizing v torque required.

Really need a rolling road to get best out of these carbs.
