How are the rear doors and front passenger door locked?  I can't work it out.

As Tim says, there are small turn handles, this is from the parts book, although there is no clear picture of the part and even when you know what you are looking for it's very difficult to work out which part number it is.
I haven't got a clear photo of the part, perhaps Simon can take one of his car?

Thank you both for that information.  My car was re-trimmed some years ago before I acquired it.  The trimming can best be described as generous and well padded.  I suspect that my door locking levers, or archaeological evidence thereof, will be found when I remove the door cards!

At the start of the technical information thread you will find photographs of the lock mantled and dismantled - just in case you are tempted to take it all apart!

Here's a photo from my S2 when I remade the door cards (I have all the photos and I gave James Parry a copy of the tracings if you ever need to remake yours)

nb I made my own pulls by plaiting leather strips and also the handles are Appia .... I have a full set of Aprilia ones, but they are almost too delicate to use !

I removed the door cards from the front passenger door and the rear right door last night. Some previous owner must have have chiselled the locking handles off the door frame.  There are remains of an irregularly broken tube left in each door frame.  Ah well, another job goes onto the list.

While we are on the subject of locks, our driver's door cannot be locked because it has twice proved impossible to unlock. Now we do not take the risk of standing in the rain endlessly trying (and finally succeeding) to get in; we leave it unlocked. Is it a lock used on other cars? Has anyone else had a problem? Does anyone have a spare?

Other than that, the Aprilia remains a delight to drive and has become a favourite of our neighbours.

Question for Simon:  Are the little handles at the bottom of the attached photo (one of yours from 2012 I think) for locking the passenger doors on an Aprilia berlina?  My car is a 1949 model.
Regards,
John.

My driver's door lock is also very stiff, but it works, just.
