Hi
After nearly five years of initial downs and then ups of ownership and the same amount of time as a member of LMC I have finally got around to my second post.
I bought my Fulvia Sport 1.3S at auction unseen (I was at Classic Le Mans that weekend) and the car was described as being 1970, when collected the V5 had date of registration 1983 but with a notice to say that the car was declared manufactured 1971.
The chassis number is 818363002603 which, according to documentation on the Viva-Lancia website, does show that it is a 1970 car, I presume this information is correct but have wondered how to get this added to the V5.
This chassis number shows that it is a series 1 RHD 1.3S which is correct and as 1970 was the year that the series 2 was introduced it may not be worth getting this change made if it is costly or time consuming.
As it was registered in the UK in 1983 I assume it was imported at that date, I suppose it could be one of the last occasions of an Italian specifying a RHD car, alternatively I assume an import from a RHD country, any thoughts?
The upsides of the car are innumerable, I never get tired of looking at it, and the driving experience is a joy, though I have only driven it once in the last 18 months due to the current circumstances, looking forward to taking it for a long run soon!
The downside was the buying experience which, five years on, still makes me angry but I won't go into details on a public forum (I have worked in auctioneering for 33 years so am very familiar with how proper auctioneers behave).
If anyone (other than the vendor of the car at the auction) has any previous information about the car it would be gratefully received.

Andrew, simply on the question of updating the V5 to add the chassis no (or any other relevant details), this should be fairly straight forward. There is a box on the form if you want to correct any details and I assume at the moment there is no chassis no recorded so you would be correcting that to add one. The Gov.uk website gives details of the process ( https://www.gov.uk/change-vehicle-details-registration-certificate). You send the original form to DVLA with supporting evidence (e.g. covering letter and photo of the VIN plate giving the chassis no.). To avoid DVLA insisting on an inspection you might want to get a Lancia specialist garage or other classic specialist to inspect the car and write you a letter confirming that the chassis no. is as you say it is. I asked DVLA to update an engine no. on a Maserati last year and they turned that round in about 3 weeks I think. In terms of the history, you can also approach Lancia Classiche to see if they can give you any further info on the car (including the original engine no. and year of manufacture) but obviously you have to pay for that service. Michael, that's brilliant, I will get on with the V5 straight away.
On the Classiche I understand that the information on Fulvias is lost so hoping someone on here remembers the car!!

Your car looks lovely. I suggest you contact Roddy Young, he has an extensive register of Zagato cars and their history. It includes DPH119J.

I used the LMC's services to get a 1960s car that had been was unrecorded registered with the DVLA under its original registration so the club may be able to help certifying the chassis number for you.

Sounds like it was an Horrible and Horrendous experience at the auctioneers ... whoever they may be You've got a lovely car there though so here's to some restriction freeing and good weather so you can get it on that long run!

Sorry, correction - I was looking at Series 2 production. You were right with 1970; 1.3S 1970 chassis numbers 2199 to 2898.Looks like someone made the same mistake back in the day.....

Hi Andrew - Interesting, I thought that by definition the 1.3S (versus 1.3) was a series 2 car? Obviously not! Your chassis number is a 818.363 - which is a series 1 car. Ive attached an image describing the breakdown of the different Sport models. The 818.363 is a Series 1 car (the LHD version being the 818.362), whereas the Series 2 1.3S was the 818.650.... Regardless, its a lovely looking car! All the best Rog.

Definitely Series 1, side hinged bonnet, separate compartment for spare wheel etc and looks like a 1970 date.
