I had an enjoyable day yesterday in the garage working on the 1.6 HF. Cleaned up the front suspension components and applied some dinitrol to them. Found all 11 grease nipples, but I was unable to do the lower ball joints. They seem to be a smaller size. Any advice on what fellow members use to achieve this would greatly appreciated.

Well, if it is a matter of nipple size, you can simply change the nipples or the fitting of your grease gun. There are boxes of nipples of different size to fit most applications. Don't pump too much grease in the balljoints as the rubber gaiters can be easily broken, Andrea

Many thanks Andrea. I can’t seem to find anyone selling different size fittings for the grease gun, so I may have to change them. Do you know the thread size by chance?

I have a nozzle on my grease gun that just pushes the ball itself down, so it can be used on any nipple whatever its size.

Charles thread should be m6, but it could be m8 fine. Best unscrew one and measure.

Thanks Tim. I think I have sourced an adaptor kit which should work.

Amazon.co.uk offers a wide range of adaptors and grease nipples, search for grease gun nozzle, Andrea

It came originally with my 'Rom Pom' grease gun I bought about 50 years ago!
Here's the photos.

Looks like they are M8x1 threads, so thanks Tim.

I have ordered some 45 degree replacements. The originals were 90 degree. By loosening  slightly, I was able to grease the ball joints, but it’s a bit fiddly.....hence the replacements.

They clearly hadn’t been used for some time and required cleaning through!

Thanks for all the inputs 👍
