Lots of traditional hand held or plumbed in ones on the market. Some require regular maintenance. If I was looking for something more convenient I'd be considering these: https://firesafetystick.comNo connections as usual! Guy

If going for a conventional fire extinguisher I was told by a fireman friend that anything under 2.5 kg is of no practical use on an engine fire once it has got hold.

A friend of mine, Sean Treacy, is a Fulvia owner and rally driver based in Ireland. He shared with me some first hand information on use of the Firestick product some time ago, and is happy for me to share it here on the forum. There's a reference to a price of £35 which I think is no longer valid. On such an important topic I thought some real world experience would be of interest.

On this side of the pond they are called the Element fire stick. Exactly the same. I've kept one of these in each of my cars for at least 5 years now. Superior to a regular fire extinguisher and easy to store.

I noticed that the TVR club is selling these Firestick. What about the Lancia Club doing the same at an AGM? Would people support this?

Originally I think they come from Italy - called "Mangiafuoco". Just like Chris, I have them in all my cars, modern or old! I fit them always in the same place, on the Aurelia under the dash, on the battery box. Either with the supplied clamp, or with 2 small velcro strips. So I can grab them if required - thankfully I did not need any of them yet. A friend tested one on a petrol fire, and it worked as it should! Important advantage of those sticks : contrary to normal fire extinguishers they do not leave any corrosive residue after use! Recommended!

I should credit Sebastien here as he put me on to these extinguishers a few years ago. Thank you. I find they are unobtrusive and yet give peace of mind. Chris

Where from David please, as I've never seen the smaller one for less than about £80. Brian 8227

In the April 2020 edition of Viva Lancia there was a quarter page advert for such fire extinguishers with a club discount too. I looked on their web site they start at £60, the club code may still be valid too. https://www.glossfireaction.co.uk
