I found this object among the box of Lancia parts that came with my Aprilia several years ago. Does anybody recognise it? It is made of 6mm diameter brass rod, and is 243mm overall length.  It has an eye/slot at one end, and a finger ring at the other. There are some markings that I cannot quite decipher apart from the arrow that is visible.

Could that be a crown to the right of the arrow?  That would make sense if it has a military origin.  There seems to be a "B" to the right of the crown, and another letter/digit that is too worn to read.

Looks like a tool to lace a soldier's boots.

So it seems that my mystery thing is almost certainly not a Lancia item. Thanks for all the responses.

I think it’s a special key for opening a can of worms.

My father in law had a similar thing in a kit for putting little rubber plugs in tyres to repair punctures.
