Hi, Can anyone advise on the purpose of the rubber gasket that is supposed to be fitted to the leading edge of a Fulvia bonnet? I've attempted to attach an image from the Tavola, but I'm not sure it's worked..... I don't recall having ever seen this installed on any car...? So perhaps it's not too important. Looking at my own bonnet (which is aluminium) there's no obvious place for it to be fitted, or means by which it would be fixed. The reason I ask is that at speed, my bonnet does flap about a bit, which can be a bit disconcerting, and I'm wondering if the gasket may assist in preventing this. I suspect the answer is no, as this is the purpose of the 2 height adjustable rubber grommets at the front corners of the bonnet opening, but I'd appreciate views from those more knowledgable. This was discussed in "Report on (slow) S2 Coupe rebuild progress" by Norm Thomas. On page 38 there are a couple of photos. I guess its purpose is as a weather-seal?

I have definitely seen them in place. Not sure I'd rush to put them back on a steel bonnet if the car is used in the wet a lot.

The later TAV shows the seals and metal fitting strips more clearly. As suggested above, page 38 of my "slow S2 rebuild" thread makes reference on page 38. The TAV diagram also shows the cover strips for the side flanges of the bonnet, item 56, which I also fitted to my car but have never ever seen on another Fulvia!

I took this photo (shows the front RHS corner of the bonnet) of another Fulvia as a reference for when I did mine. I was told the strips aid with waterproofing the engine bay. The rubber is glued to the steel strip

Here are three pictures of my S2 Coupe. The first shows one of the two slightly curved metal angle strips fastened in place with 3 stainless screws. The second shows the rubber seal glued in behind the metal strip, and overlapping at the end. The third shows the finished job, with the outer ends of the seals trimmed for better location when the bonnet is closed.
