Hi, I'm converting the indicator cancellator mechanism to the later one that used a contact disc with 2 cams that release the switch, back to off. To do this I need to separate the end of the steering column from the steering box. Does anyone know if the spined shaft coming out the steering box is part of the steering box, a separate item from the box and column or part of the assembly at the bottom of the steering column please?
I'm trying to work out if I need the release the steering column to pull it up away from the splined shaft, to slide the contact disc on to the splined shaft.

For some reason I can't load pictures to help explain this morning!!

Ones I have removed have an articulated joint at the bottom of the steering column which can be unbolted. The shaft into the steering box is a separate component.

Just had a look at a photo of the front suspension behind the rear axle piccy  on my resto thread and it shows as Frank describes a shaft going into the steering box that is probably connected to the steering column with a fabric disk.
