Windscreen wipers
«

Does anyone know if my wipers are working as they should on my S3.
The top position of the stalk is off, the first one down gives what I guess is a normal speed of sweep, but it is intermittent, with about a two second delay between sweeps. The second one down gives a moderately fast speed. It makes no difference if the engine is running.
There is however no mention of an intermittent wiper function in the original owners handbook I have for the S3 and there is no sign of anything in the wiring diagram I have. The original owners handbook shows the “neutral” stalk position as being in the middle which is different to the way that mine works!
If I unplug the connection block close to the motor and wire the motor directly to a 12V power source using the Grey wire they run slow with no intermittency. With the Blue wire, the wipers go fast.
Are the wipers working as they should?

Thanks Tim,
I had a feeling that mine wasn't standard. I can't see a module that would make them intermittent, but that doesn't mean there isn't one lurking there somewhere that was fitted many years ago.
I guess my anomaly must be a result of someone reconnecting the wires in a non-standard way. As I never deliberately take it out in the rain and the wipers function quite well - albeit not in the way that Lancia intended, I'll probably look for something else to tinker with instead!
