Fulvia S2 1600HF (1971)

« on: 27 October, 2024, 06:08:56 PM »

Dear LMC Community,

After more than 40 (combined) years of Fulvia Coupe ownership, we (GlynW and nthomas1) have combined our observations and experiments to produce a collection of Owner's Notes for the electrical systems.  These Notes contain things we wished we had known when we first started working on our Lancias, as well as descriptions of the 'typical' wiring schemes for S2 and S3 cars.

In the course of our conversations we found that Lancia produced multiple editions of the instruction books for each variant, sometimes with different wiring diagrams for the same car.  Our Owner's Notes focus on the wiring for UK-specification cars, with raised outer headlights and fog/driving lights in the inner positions.  We have also simplified Lancia's diagrams to show connections for individual electrical units schematically, and included advice on restoration and possible modifications.  All errors and omissions are ours (mainly mine) but we hope that the Fulvia community will find this useful.

Best wishes,

Glyn & Norm

Here's the cover of our booklet, and an example of Glyn's superb graphics which I think really bring it to life  Glyn and I  certainly did our share of head scratching while working on our cars, and we will both be very pleased if the booklet reduces the head scratching for others!  If anyone has difficulty downloading it please pm me and I'll e-mail a copy.
Cheers, Norm

As one who has been known to spit feathers when confronted by woefully poor self-assembly or device operating instructions produced by commercial organisations, this truly excellent Note is a model of clarity and will surely find a place in every Fulvia owners document set. Many thanks Glyn & Norm.

Thanks Hugh - that's a review to savour.  Let's hope we are not like those bands that just produce a great first album and then vanish.

I have the original PDF copy of the Colour S2 wiring diagram - unfortunately I have no record of where (on the internet) I stumbled across it. However, unlike the reproductions in the Owner's Notes, it can be scaled while maintaining high-resolution, so is useful for those who want to follow individual wires.  It is too big (5.4MB) to attach here but has been deposited on the Lancisti Forum website: see https://lancisti.net/filebase/index.php?file/191-high-resolution-colour-pdf-of-fulvia-s2-wiring-diagram-from-datii-technici-1970/

What a fabulous resource. Thank you both for producing such a professional guide and making it freely available.

I have found that a lot of mechanics can be very good at mechanical things, but don’t seem to understand electrical matters. This will prove a wonderfully useful piece of work to all lancisti.
