I’m trying to get my heater working properly.

Does anyone know how to get the plastic heater lever things off the metal levers? I know they’re meant to pull off, but is there a way of doing that without breaking them?
I could cut them off and I’ve got some spare ones, but I don’t really want to use them unless I have to.

Also, does anyone know how to remove the cigarette lighter fitting? I’ve got as far as I can with it as per the attached photo.

All the cables have to be accessed by taking the dash top off..... I Dont think you can do it any other way.

But to answer the cig lighter just undo the big knurled nut thing at the back and you will have a jigsaw to put back.

Okay, thanks Tim. I was really hoping not to have to take the top of the dashboard off as it’s in virtually perfect condition.

If you mean the plastic coated ends of the metal levers then I think they are moulded on and cannot be pulled off. They would need to be cut or ground off carefully to avoid damage to the dash.

Do you have a damaged end that you want to replace? I fitted a new end (that I made) to a metal lever insitu.

They come off perfect and go back perfect unless you have an accident….

Thanks, that’s good to know. How many fixings hold the dash top in place, where are they located and what sort of fixings are they?

Howard - that looks like a very skilfully made item.

I may be able to do what I need to without removing them, but I bought a new set on eBay a while ago, so I could use them. I fitted one which slides on and off fine, I just cut the old broken one off because it seemed the easiest way. It seems it’s the only way!

I have some notes on dashtop removal that might help. They were in the old Fulvia Database, so some people may have seen them before.

Glyn

PS Nice to know that replacement lever ends can now be bought.

Thanks Glyn - It's the same one that Beckerman67 kindly sent me, but much appreciated anyway. It's a very useful guide and on this horrid wet day I'll tackle the job in my nice warm dry garage!
