Hello,
For those of you more experienced with the Aurelia clutch than me, what is your guess as to what have happened?

Today, whilst depressing the clutch I suddenly heard a "clank" and all resistance in the clutch pedal disappeared.
So, the pedal stayed down, but I could pull it back up with my hands. Lets say its limp, kind of:)
The clutch now seems to be engaged constantly, and I can move the rod on the clutch back and forth quite easily with my hand.

The car was standing on jack stand and engine off when this happened, so no harm done.

Before I take the clutch apart, could anybody make an guess as to what have happened?

It's in just those situations when a parts catalogue is invaluable to see the exploded diagrams and get an idea of what all the parts do.

I have a feeling perhaps the big C-clip has failed?
there is no resistance to the lever, but I see movement inside, so the lever itself is operational

Here is a video

Frank:
Indeed!
I have the parts catalogue, but I think its hard to get my head around the exact function of the clutch, being so many years since I had it opened:D

You might be right. It seems from the video that there's no spring resistance.

Or the actuating arm (17 on the Tav) from the vertical shaft has broken ( but it seems unlikely both arms would break simultaneously).

Thank  you for the reply William!

Although difficult to capture on video, I could see the arms move on the actuating shaft.

So, now I am happy the C-clip didn't give in when I released it from the press, haha
That could have been dangerous.
Most likely I haven't had the C-clip fully seated?
A very bad mistake on my part this, it does not bode well for the quality of the rest of the build  Embarrassed

Yes, unusual, but mine broke, same result: pedal to the floors etc. Cavalitto shipped a replacement, all fixed quickly.
