Greetings,

My '68 Fulvia Zagato has an alternator with 5 wires disconnected.

Would anyone have a diagram I could download?

Or, possibly know which wire goes in the correct position?

The alternator has been rebuilt and don't want to damage it.

Thanks

Hi Julian

I believe your Fulvia had a change from dynamo to alternator; specifically a Ducellier 7553A?

Presumably it's therefore effectively what we'd see on an S2 with three wires going to voltage regulator; one to starter motor; one to warning lamp. Thus covering your five wires.

In terms of connectors on your alternator then fortunately Colin, in another thread on this forum, took a picture of the 7553A. That is here: https://www.lancia.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=682.msg12423#msg12423

The EXC, D+ and D- will tally with the same named terminals on your (presumably Ducellier) voltage regulator. The other D+ is what goes back to the dash warning light and then the B+ (whilst indicating 'battery positive') is what connects to starter motor.

If that doesn't tally then come back!

How is the ducellier held on and S1 block? I have seen bodges using just the front S2 mount off the water pump but the alternator is not really supported and will mechanically fail unless additional support such as the system sold by Pieces Fulvia are in place.

Thank you all for your input.

Car came with an alternator already fitted.

Sometimes a diode pack can be fitted which bypasses the wires to the mech regulator.

This might help assuming nobody has changed the wiring loom!

The green wire terminal is just out of sight but has a small spade connector.

I would recommend a solid state regulator to replace the electrical-mechanical type assuming nobody has done this yet.
Article №: 130679 from Autodoc. Mine was the HC-Cargo version but there are a couple of others that look the same. Very easy to fit and connect in place of the old one.
