Greetings one and all. Surprised that there is not much activity on YT from current Lancia owners in the UK, very very few documenting their trials and tribulations so just thought I would try and address that...my YT channel has been up and running for a couple of months. Feel free to have a look and laugh at someone who does not not know much about engines and who really, shouldn't be anywhere near an old car!

Murray, great idea, I'd made a suggestion somewhere, some years ago about the old hands/owners of our most popular models doing the same, or along the lines of a reprise of their ownership of a car, what attracted them to buy it, the trips they'd gone on and how they fixed, restored or just tinkered at their cars.

It would be a great project for the LMC to under take, all saved on video format for the benefit of younger or newer owners.

A photographic record is good, a video graphic record both brilliant and invaluable.

Thanks Frank...I agree with that. There's so little UK content on the likes of Youtube (I'm not any great fan of that website but plenty are so you have to go with the flow sometimes.. The car is back from omicron next week so will (hopefully) finally be drivable and reliable!

I've been watching his stuff for a while now. Haven't seen much on his Flaminia of late, he has been more focussed on other stuff including his Alfa and Jag. I'm not trying to be Steven Spielberg here, just recording bits and pieces to share, I doubt anybody will learn anything from it but again, that's not the point of the channel. The 2000HF is such a rare care and there is so little on it around on YouTube. Car is due back in Edinburgh in the next hour or so so will be doing an update then.

I've subscribed and am looking forward to a pot of tea and a binge watch.   

This year I've finally started uploading.  At first "one take mobile phone footage" of a couple of minutes a go.  Often it would take a couple of goes at it and after a while "talking to yourself in the shed" comes easier, but it is practice and getting over the sound of your own voice on play back etc.  Next was smooshing a few togeather, then subtitles, then a bit of editting etc etc.  It is quite the learning curve, but an enjoyable hobby.

Its mostly Austin 7 specials, but still a jumble of DIY and London cafes and The Lord Mayors show and all sorts else.  It might narrow in time but have taken the view that throwing out quantity is the way to learn.

Another tip - JUST START RECORDING STUFF.   Now I've improved with the edit software I'm chugging through 2020 footage that was nothing like good enough to use without a big chop and voice over.  Being able to voice over is a game changer as can then do narrated slide shows.

Required kit - any smart phone...

I've got a ten year old "workshop camera" which rattles as it tries to focus and a tripod. Instead of trying to edit on a phone have a Mac Mini which is their little box you attach any old screen to.  The edit software it came with does everything I've needed.

Thinking of giving this a go, what editing software do you use? I see some freeware out there, I don't need lots of bells & whistles, just basic cutting joining and ability to overlay text and voice.

Yes, go for it...it's quite fun actually. I use a Mac at home and it come with free iMovie, that is a very capable video editor to which you can add titles, transitions etc.

I use the most basic MacMini which is the apple box you plug a cheap screen into and also "just" the software it comes with.  I'm yet to run out of features to learn for all many said "you have to get A or B or C in order to do X or Y or Z".   I'm not a huge Apple fan, mostly I use a chromebook and my phone is android, but I like that they bundle the software, and "it just works".

Same here, I use a M4 Mac mini and just use iMovie.
just uploaded a new video today, car came back from Omicron a few weeks back and I've only just started driving it again, found it scary going back to a manual!
