Radiator
« on: 24 February, 2025, 11:00:46 AM »
Hi. I have damaged my Radiator core. The fins are distorted after using a pressure washer (not the brightest thing to do). The radiator doesn't give enough cooling on very hot days anymore. The top tank has some pin holes that weep a bit. The radiator doesn't leak enough to top up the level though. It is still the original IPRA radiator. Pieces in France is out of stock of after market copies and have been for a while with no ETA for the new stock yet.
Is there another supplier of radiators?
To have mine re cored with brass/copper core is half the price of Pieces new radiator. It is raging summer here and I'm not able to drive it regularly in this heat. It is probably better to replace the unit with a new one, if I can find one.
Any help would be much appreciated

A re-core is likely going to be the most cost effective option as well as keeping most of your radiator original. This is what companies like Omicron and Ricambi Rossocorsa offer ... and likely subcontract out to another specialist anyway. You can probably find a specialist with decent ratings near you who would re-core and generally make sure the radiator was fully functional with any issues sorted out.

Failing that then there are lots of (China based) suppliers on ebay with decent positive ratings e.g. https://www.ebay.com/itm/152066432641.

As a temporary stop-gap you could try a dose of 'Radweld' ... and I've been impressed with a product called 'Millers Extra Cool' which notably kept things running that little bit cooler on a road trip to much sunnier climes a few years ago.
