Andy Saunders’s Stratos prototype replica was one of the ‘star cars’ at the Covent Garden event in September last year. I have asked Andy to let me know (providing it’s not confidential) who the new owner is, so that the LMC can keep track of it for future exhibitions.

Yeah, I thought it might be the same one. It'd be a good thing to know where it ends up for sure.

Here a a few photos of the Andy Saunders Stratos Zero (a really great Replica) at Covent Garden 2007.
And some of the genuine article in Turin 2006 at the 100th Anniversary.
Couple are poor quality due to the lighting in the Arsenale, one is of the General in charge of the Arsenale falling on his Arsenale while getting in Grin

Sorry but it won't let me spell out the name of the Army HQ in Turin Roll Eyes

It has to be said ... it's not the most practical thing on the planet ...

... but seeing it for the first time in Turin was a bit of an experience ...

... is the steering wheel on this one the same as the original ? ie: folds forward so you can get in ?

There are loads of differences between the original and Andy Saunders replica. I think the replica uses a Fiat X19 as a chassis but quite heavily modified. It's also right hand drive but I'd have to ask a fellow Stratos Enthusiast Club member if the steering column moving made the winscreen/door close. I doubt it. I also note the replica had longer side windows than the original and, in a nod to "practicality" it had wing mirrors bolted to the side. I have also been told by a fellow club member that he was nearly gassed by exhaust fumes when moving the car at a show...
I know that when the original car first came out the screen was shut by moving the column bcak but when I managed to blag a sit in it over that last evening in the Ars*nale the linkage wasn't working!

The Andy Saunders car also has an east west mounted engine, whereas the original at the Arsenale was in line, as it would have been in a Fulvia.

It's not a very sophisticated rude word filter. I can't create exceptions to allow "Ars*nale" whilst spotting all the truly naughty permutations. Sorry. Family-friendly site, and all that.  Roll Eyes
