Brizzle March Meeting

At our usual haunt - Compass Inn, Tormarton. Just north of J18 of the M4. Definitely a longer bike ride than it looks on a map.

Hi Harvey,
And a lot of Hills 8) just think yourself lucky you don't have to come over from Wales to get there and pay the extortionate Severn Bridge Tolls to get back into Wales >:( as I did when I lived near Monmouth, it would hack me off so much at times, that I'd go all the way around Gloucester, then back down the other side rather than pay the toll, on the other hand, that was also a nice run in a Lancia late at night, and not a lot of difference in in the mileage :D down through the Forest of Dean to Monmouth was a real bonus, but not forgetting to keep an eye open for the wildlife,  meetings with Deer don't do the front of your car a lot of favours. :o

I've been going to our site in Ross on Wye a few times in the past few months. The quickest route involves crossing the bridge but there's no way I'm voluntarily paying £5.40, so I go via the M5 and A40. The first time I took that route last year, I re-discovered the bend that caused me a lot of grief in my Delta HFie way back in the mid-90's. It's still not signposted as a sharp bend.  :(

On the A40, shortly after peeling off the main road to Chepstow. There are a few gentle curves which lull you into enjoying the drive and then a suddenly sharp one. Filled with exuberance in my recently-purchased HFie, I learned a whole load of lessons around the effect of weight distribution under sharp braking and turning. The rear wheels locked and I span 180 degrees, bumping a rear wheel to be at 45 degrees instead of vertical. I'd only had the car two weeks, and it spent the next 10 in the repair shop.  :'(
