In message 43 of the thread LANCIAS ON FILM the late John Turner suggested that the 5th/8th modified torpedo of Wells Coates, the famous architect subsequently owned by Arnold Livingstone, was BY 2011 in Italy. This is one of the ten or so Lambdas that we believe in the Lambda Consortium and the Lambda World Register has probably survived but has been lost sight of. We have no information on its VIN number. If any reader has information about its whereabouts - even the continent it is in - or its VIN, that would be of interest.

My sister put me onto a Freeview channel called 'Talking Pictures'. I'm addicted to it now - they show all the old British films from the 50's and 60's and the street scenes and cars are superb - especially when set around the London Docks where I grew up. So I found myself watching Tito Gobbi in 'The Glass Mountain' a few months back (as you do) and towards the end a Lambda winds its way up a mountain road. I'm not a Lambda expert so can't tell you which series etc but I believe it was a closed saloon. A few weeks ago watched an old comedy called 'To Paris With Love' and towards the end of that an Aurelia is parked up next to Terry-Thomas' car. If you love old British stuff, like the old 'Scotland Yard' series etc this is the channel to wallow in.

I just watched "The Scarlet and the Black" about the Vatican underground in WW2. The lead character, Monsignor Hugh O'Flaherty played by Gregory Peck, has a couple of scenes where he uses a car which looked to me to be an Augusta. It's an excellent film so well worth the wait for a brief Lancia sighting.

That's interesting. I didn't notice a scene with the full car in shot. I can't have been paying attention properly.

BBC 2 drama 'Trust' now on catch up. This is the tale of the Getty family and the true life kidnapping of John Paul Getty Jnr in 1973. I had a vague recolection of this so watched it. It wasn't until the half way through that the kidnapping took place, in Italy. Now I was interested but it was all Fiats and Alfa's for a couple of episodes. Then the class came when a Fulvia Berlina was used for an action shot along with a Flavia coupe. Then came in the background a Fulva coupe and also, I think a Flamminia Belina. Worth a view but I warn you it is a bit gory in places. Gerard.

Also quite a few on the BBC Trust series on the kidnapping of Paul Getty. At least two Flavias and a Fulvia Berlina..

BBC 1 Little Drummer Girl now on catch up/iplayer
Classic le Carre spy tale set in the late 1970's in Europe and about an Israeli / Palestinian undercover operation. A Mercedes W123 takes centre stage on the car front but to my surprise a Fulvia Berlinetta S2 plays a small characterful part as the shadow car through Austria in episode 3. If you get to episode 4 you get a shot of a Red Beta coupe in the background.
Keep your eyes peeled!
Gerard
