Sorry to hear that James.

Is the car staying in the U.K? I know a lot are heading back to Europe due to the exchange rate :(

disaster!!!!! john had the car 2 days and succesfully blew it up BIG TIME!!! rod through block!!!, bear in mind i'd owned this car for 8yrs, serviced every 3000km since i've owned,drove perfectly down to bath and the next day,then suddenly just blew up,  spoke to 2 specialists (both never heard of grale rods just giving up with normal road use), got my own oppinion so has my dad and another well known lmc members opinion whats yours??

My opinion for what it's worth  ::)
I have two thoughts.
1/. missed a gear and over revved it, is there a rev limiter on an integrale?

2/ And in my opinion more likely, selected wrong gear when changing down with immediate over revving, and bang.

Me thinks Thrashed ::)

I'd second that. ::)

Though we could just be being unfair. It could just be a genuine (all be it rare) Conrod or Big End bolt failure? ???

thanks for opinions, basically you have all said the same as others and i think missing a gear is probable, rev limiter ...NO IDEA!! i never went over 6k as there is really no need to, turbo runs out of breath at about 5.5k so its time to change up, absolutly sick as a pig about whats happened but thanks for your opinions they reasure me that this is NOT MY FAULT!!!

Glad that the person is a decent person, a similar thing happened to me a few years ago. I sold a Beta Spider to a guy from London who rang me one evening about the car, i told him all about it, been to Le Mans and back without a problem, etc ,etc, i told him where i lived ( miles away), he said that he would think about it.  Telephone call at 6am, to say he had driven from London and was in the next village to me, i collected him. we went for a drive , i let him drive the car from cold, anyway off we go ,and he is nearly red lining the engine , when i said pull over , i'll drive back, you can,t drive it live a modern car etc. Anyway he bought the car, paid cash, and off he went, 4 hours later i got a call from him saying he was on the motorway and the and the car had blown up, and what am I going to do about it, my reply was ,spend your cash, and enjoy the rest of the day, as you thrashed the car, 8) never heard another word. Why do they call it "common sense" when there's so little of it about?
