Hi, I am really having the game on with these carbs. They are taking more balancing than an MPs expenses.

My car has the emission type of carbs fitted and I cannot get them to work properly at all. I have followed the instructions from the forum and a very good service bulletin from Omicron (F.O.C) with no success. The only way I can get the car to run anywhere near smooth was to disconnect the solenoid, remove the metal tee piece, blank off the fast idle screw and fit a new rubber pipe between the two carbs.

I would like to know if any members have fitted Dellorto carbs. If so what would be involved in fitting them.

Hi Bill,
I have Dellorto 32DHLA Carbs fitted to my 2c but she is only 1091cc, and doesn't have a fuel return system, when I bought them new they were ajetted fod to suit my 2c and were a straight swop.
I've had no problems with them in the 5+ years they have been fitted, engine is smoother, and she is much nicer to drive, the carbs also stay in tune much longer than the solex's did.

35 DHLB's are the fit but they are like rocking horse poo/very expensive (you choose).

I balanced Steve Gales' solexs like yours. tricky but eventually we got a nice set up. Any air leaks around the various gaskets will make life more tricky.

I assume you have stripped the carbs and checked for blockages. A lot of crud collects around the bottom where the throttle pums are and can lead to a) failure of the pums (1per venturi) or blocked jets.

A 35solex refurb kit is about £25 on ebay.

You could replace them with standard 1300 carbs - plenty of those around, or if you want to be adventurous I have long toyed with the idea of finding a set of Mikuni carbs (Mikuni bought Solex and produced an improved version).
