Just for me to celebrate my 501st post on the forum – here’s a photo of my Aprilia taken at Milton Abbas (Dorset) in 1965. I remember it well.

     Delightful picture Colin.
     Did the car have the semaphores modded to flashers that stick out like ears? My car had something similar back in '65.

Ben,

No, I couldn’t bear the idea of those elephant ears! My car had what I think were called semaphore trafficators, which worked reasonably OK. In my case they were non-original Lucas units, which sometimes stuck and a rear passenger had to bang on the side to get them to start. Another oddity was that at speed they tended to drift out a bit on their own. Probably very dangerous and nowadays I would go for discrete flashers mounted on the wings, or bumpers.
