A few pics from the recent LeMans Classic. Apart from the usual Techmagnesia wheels, I spotted these. The black ones are 16", the owner had them made specially (2 sets), I didn't really get a chance to question him more...

I think the alloy wheels look a bit to modern, I tought that you could buy blank rims and have the stud holes drilled to suit, ?

Kevin
Did you see the 1958 car in Plateau 3? I think it retired after the first race due to a fairly serious looking breakage in the rear wheel assembly that resulted in minor arch damage.
Pleased to say that my car survived the heat without excessive liquid consumption (unlike the driver).
Concerning wheels, I'm still on the look-out for any ideas though will not consider anything that requires spacers, shaving pillars or £1,000 a corner.

Rumor had it that Cavalitto had the steel wheels remade - for the later series cars. And that they were a bit heavier than the stock which run around 18 lbs each. FWIW,I found a set of older Borani steel wheels for an earlier car, and they weighed the same as the stock wheels.

Recently discussed with Enrico Barlaam at Cavalitto. He said (if I remember correctly) that the later wheels he had remade (5th, 6th) were 16 kg, vs. originals at 14.8 kg. He beefed up the center section, which is a bit thin in the older wheels. He indicated that the earlier (s. 3/4) series wheels would be remade as well. No plans to remake the rolled rimmed type.
