I have just found this photo of an early car's engine bay. It looks like it has had a remote oil filter added and the wiper motor shouldn't be under, but everything else looks like it should.

Nice picture guys, what is the devise coming off the oil filler, Is it a breather of some kind?

Suspect it's a breather to take fumes back to below the carburettor, back in the 1960's before more sopthisticated system were introduced, this was common practice and on Vauxhalls used to go to a stub on the insulator block between the carb and inlet manifold, it's an after fitment as my 1966 2c still has the breather tube that vents to the open air about crankcase level, keep think about fitting an oil drip tank, as it does tend to leave oil drips wherever you park.

I noticed the other day Tescos sell Olive Oil in small tins for something more appropriate than a plastic milk bottle.

Terry Donovan has the pre-war Aprilia that I wrote about in VL last month.  I can put you in touch if you need to contact him - by trade he is a photographer so I'd imagine he could provide good images if required?
