Brake Drums
«

Anyone got a photo of a 6th series brake drum back backplate. The ones I have seem to have 'plate' welded over what looks like cooling holes. I need to know if its a modification, or original. The plates have large cooling ducts fitted.

Kevin, I hope this is OK, it's not that good quality and it was just as the brakes were when dismantled, so is not clean!
Ade.

Thats a good picture. Mine are the same, except they have 2 extra holes, one is a large slot near the cooling duct, and the other is a large square. Both have plates welded over them on the outside. The odd thing is that the holes are very neatly cut, as if original, but why they are covered up is a mystery.
I'll put up a picture later.

You can see the outlines of the holes. One is a slot on the left side close to the intake duct, the other a triangular shape on the right side. they both have a plate tack welded to the back of the plate. As I need as much cooling as possible, I'm thinking of trying to fit a grille or duct. Any ideas ? Obviously I also need to keep dirt and water from entering.
