This seems to be something of a French national sport!
Is it likely that all the DS's have been weakened in the same way or is it that they sit so low with the suspension let down that the projectile car is effectively driving over the floorpan and bursting them apart from within?
Frank,
I haven't had another look to check but all citroens with the hydraulic suspension sit nearly on the floor when the engine is turned off, a great feature with them with the engine running and the pump going was that you didn't need a jack, you just lifted it up to it's highest position then lowered onto an axle stand or a block.
Also very useful in the full up position for fording small rivers, streams and floods
