Hoping for some guidance on paint codes for my 1967 Flavia Coupe.

My research had indicated that I should probably be going for Lancia Blue - Code 121, but when I ordered a sample of this paint is was more of a navy blue than the dark midnight blue which I would prefer.

I'm hoping to find a colour as close as possible to the dark blue Flavia Reg 'KSO 818' (see link below) which was at the AGM.

Does anyone know who owns this car, or can someone suggest the colour code and paint supplier to use for this darker shade of Lancia blue.

The paint files I have are too big to post here, but I've e-mailed you with two files (check your junk folder, it might thing it's spam); the Alperton Lancia colour brochure from the '60's and the Glasurite colour codes and mixes for all the colours. That may help you come to some conclusions.

Thanks to you both!

So is KSO 818 your car Richard?

I'm afraid that there is no paint code plate on my Flavia, but there are two holes drilled in the side of the glove box drawer where a plate may once have been attached.

I've had Lechler 121 suggested to me before, but I think that this is maybe more towards the navy blue end of the spectrum. Certainly interested to hear how you get on.

The car is getting a total respray so no issues with matching old paint to new... thankfully.

See this for Lechler codes for older (pre-Flavia) cars. I suspect it is quite close....

http://web.me.com/geoffreyg/Cars/Blog/Entries/2006/5/2_Current_paint_codes.html

Also in Viva Lancia web site, there is a discussion about Flavia/Fulvia paint codes.

The Max Meyer code from Lancia for their Flavia blues are listed as:
Synthetic: 1.346.7069.

Then, in a later parts book:

Acrylic: 1.711.7497
Nitro Acrylic: 2.272.7169

There are other Blues listed, but this they call "Lancia Blu"
Good luck getting that translated to a modern code. I suspect Neil's Glasurit numbers are the best way to go.

the sample is in the post and possibly what you want as i have applied some of the paint to try it but it is much too dark [almost black in comparison ]to match the existing colour which is more the 'navy'colour you mentioned.so will take the fuel cap to the paint shop as a sample tomorrow

Hi Richard,

Sample received today. Lancia people are nice people  Grin

It certainly is a very dark shade of Blue and probably darker than the colour that she currently wears, but this is (I think) the colour that I should be going for and is certainly a classy colour to contrast with the newly rechromed bits.

Thanks again
Mike

Waiting with interest.

I have the code for my Ypsilon,  I had a batch mixed recently,
it's a very dark navy blue, it looks very dark on a dull day but more navy in sunlight. the code on the tin reads as follows, PAL 500M, Lancia 435/ A (CELL) Lancia Blue. This might be of help. David.  Wink

Mike, When I took the photos I sent of your Flavia taken back in the 1990's when I used to belong to the Bristol Group, it was very dark in those days, I suspect some of the problem is that the paint has faded,
Every Batch of Doncaster Grey made up for my 2c has always come up darker than her current paint which was applied in 1999.
