I know it is bad form to start off with a negative but fitting everything in is always going to produce date clashes and unfortunately the only suitable available date for the Driving Test this year is the 21st August which is the same weekend as the Cotswold Ecconomy Run which is a shame.  That said, they are different types of events and the new format of the Driving tests this year will be more sedate than previous ones, reacting to feedback from Members, so watch out for the entry form in VL.

Oh, that's a pity. I have hotels booked. Rotten luck, so few events and two fall on the same day. It will dilute entries, I for one have always done the Driving Tests.

Nobody has posted on this thread since 16th Feb, are the Driving Tests  still going ahead and how many members have  signed up? As an LMC event and with only a week to go  it probably needs to be promoted.

I have entered and having heard nothing to the contrary am assuming it is going ahead. However entries go direct to Richard Thorne so suggest ringing him to check latest position.

It is with great regret that Richard and I have decided to cancel the driving test and BBQ event.  He has only received one entry for the driving test and 6 for the BBQ and one of those was me, therefore we made the decision that the event is not viable.  This a great shame but it is clear that not enough of the members wanted it anymore.  I believe it was publicised enough, it has been in VL every month since March and mentioned in this string in February.  Anyway, those few who did enter will have been e-mailed directly by one of Richard Thorne's team yesterday, as I was.

I only hope this has not lowered the entries to the normally popular Cotwolds Economy Run the Peter and Lin organise.

I for one chose the CED having enjoyed it for the last 5 years.

I would have tried the driving tests this year having a bit more time on my hands (ha ha) if it hadn't unfortunately clashed.

Tim

PS should the title be now changed??!!

I did try to change the title as you will see by both of my new entries but it does not change the original.
One of the reasons for not leaving it till the last minute was so "the few" had time to re-arrange next weekend. Seeing our numbers, it should not have made much difference anyhow.  As I said before, it was the only date I was given that I could organise it.
Maybe this time of year is just too crowded with events and it is time for something different at another time of year, a possible project for you Tim?

Thank you Don but I am afraid that IF it does run again in the future it will not be me running it,  my suggested format change was presumably not to members liking.  So let this be a call for someone else to try to reserect this long standing event, maybe a different time of year and another venue - over to you, whoever you may be - good luck.
