Some S1 coupes were built in South Africa, we had one in the Surrey membership, now moved to Hampshire , were any other models/series built in South Africa? The one in the photo looks great!

Hi Neil, it is rather nice, although it looked really nice at first sight when we went up to Balham in London one horrible night early last year to have the first look, and it also looked good in the original for sale photos, but it's taken Mark best part of a year and a fair wedge of money to get it up to the standard shown here. One really unexpected problem, possibly due to salt air on the trip over was that the boot lid was very hard to open, what it turned out to be is that the hinge pins were rusted, so when you lifted the boot lid the inner panel had split and you were lifting the outer against the inner rather than it revolving around the hinge pins, also had engine problems that involved a partial teardown. Now well and truly sorted and a new interior in leather is being contemplated. Brian 8227

Marks Fulvia was built at the Daihatsu plant and carries a Daihatsu plate under the bonnet as well as the Lancia one. I did manage to contact the company that now operate that plant but although someone was supposed to contact me they never did. Brian 8227

Flavia coupes & berlinas, and Betas. No Montecarlos were built in South Africa. These were all made at Pininfarina.

Beg to differ According to the Dutch owners site: http://www.lanciabetamontecarlo.nl/at least 32 were built in ZA, but I'm just taking that at face value - I've no other evidence.
