Not sure yet. It was running fine as I approached J14 and then the water temp gauge went to the stop. It was in the roadworks and I had little choice but to coast/drive it to a gap in the steel fencing. Almost no coolant in it but no blown hoses/obvious leaks.. I was recovered off the motorway where the AA turned up about 10 isn and refilled it. Ran it back up to temperature and it chucked the lot out of the expansion cap when he loosened it. He'd checked the water for evidence of gasses but that was ok (phew) so the diagnosis is failed thermostat/weak radiator cap/iffy water pump or fan belt. Relay truck arrived at 11.30, home at 1.30. Spent a few hours trying to track down a thermostat for an Alfa 164 12v without much luck until I found a German supplier of an insert for the housing. Rad cap was much easier. Now I have to remove the fan belt to measure it and get another one ordered. After that it'll be a case of run it up to temp again on the driveway and see what happens. Should be an easy fix, just frustrated it happened today. The drive down to Silverstone Historic on the hottest day of the year was scary as it ran hot all the way down but no ill effects from that, fine all weekend and fine on the way home too. Sorry I missed the second Fulvia! Probably missed others too! Guy

Looks a nice meeting. Who does the Lancia Banner belong to? as I'm trying to get hold of one for our display at the Kop Hill Climb. Brian 8227

The treasurer Dave Melluish (contact details in back of VL) has most of them. New ones are currently being purchased, but not sure if they will be available for Kop Hill. Neil

Where to?
It's going up near York with the new owner Richard, spares car for his Berlina that I welded and painted for him a couple of years ago. There'll bsa few spares off it though which will help to keep other cars going. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be once on the trailer, arches and sills have gone and it's long since it had a rear panel to speak of but it'll yield some good spares. Front subframe for starters looks very good.

Pleased you got it out Kevin, I should think Mary was pleased. Sorry I couldn't help. How long did it take to dig it out? This means between Frank, myself you Richard Dave Gee and others, we've managed to dispose of our late friend Michael Collins's collection of Lancia's for Mary his widow. It''s taken us over 18 months all told, with a lot of hard work on the way! Brian 8227

I must confess that I got there a bit late due to the roadworks on the A1 & A14, took me an hour longer than anticipated so by the time I'd got there Richard and Frank had made good progress clearing a path and fitting pumped up rear tyres once the brakes had been freed up. With the rears off the axle stands we managed to rock it out of the garage quite easily, surprisingly it rolled quite well and we got it around to the road without drama, even missed the fish pond! Hopefully another thing off Marys mind although I don't envy the task of clearing the rest up. If I'd have used the Y10 a bit before now I'd have liked to have taken it down there for a ride but on reflection a 200 mile round trip with the trafic delays maybe would have been asking for trouble

Brian 8227 Pleased it turned out much more do-able than I thought it might be, at least we can now get in to see what else there is. I don't suppose Richard wanted the Coupe front and rear axles? which are free to anyone who wants to dig them out and take them away, Frank and myself did the heavy work of clearing the jungle and trees last year! Would have nice for Mary to have seen what a great job you've done to their old Y10, and looks now like it did when I first met them. Brian 8227
