Fulvia Sport on the road again... kind of.

Hi All,

Finally got the FSZ on the road. Bought the car in April from original owner, 20 years off the road. Lots of recommissioning - all the usual things. Here's the first run out, followed by first breakdown debris in fuel tank working free. Tank now away for cleaning and relining.

Brilliant - another FSZ hits the road! You dont appear to be in the Z register maintained by Roddy Young. He would be very happy to add your car I am sure.

When I restored my FSZ some 5 years ago, I only had a couple of breakdowns (one in a forest in the Ardennes), but am still "debugging" minor issues. However it is a consumate pocket GT car for continental work. Melloni (which is what our family call her) has just returned from a 1000 mile weekend in Burgundy which I have written up for a future issue of VL.

OK, I think the fuel tank is pretty shot . Any ideas where I might track down a good second hand replacement?

Its not that expensive having a tank made.  Someone on here will know the contact of Graem (GB Fabrications or something, Google's not helping and I don't have my book to hand) who's a wizz with ali and who's son had a Fulvia Zagato off Richard Fridd a while back.  Worth a call at least.  You'd then know it was clean, baffled, and perhaps even some foam in there for peace of mind.

Thanks for the suggestions - Might have found a tank. Thinking of upgrading to an electronic fuel pump at the same time to eliminate a potential source of problems. Any tips?

 Hi Chris,
Many of us have kept the mechanical fuel pumps that on the whole perform quite well, but have added a fuel filter/regulator if one isn't already fitted, (I used a filter king from Demon tweeks) and have also fitted a solid state or otherwise electric pump, to eliminate all the churning over that seems to be part and parcel of most, if not all fulvia starting after standing a few days.
In my case I've had one fitted adjacent to the fuel tank on my 2c with a switch and warning light, this is turned on until it stops clicking and the warning light stops flickering, then with a bit of choke she fires first time, it's also nice to know you have a backup if the mechanical pump fails, but this hasn't happened in 12 years and 20,000 miles.
