I have the pump on the right inside wing which works well. Other bits are like Brian's installation.

So, finally managed to track down a fuel tank for the Sport. It's a Series 1 tank so took it to a local tank/radiator refurbisher and they fitted the return pipe that's missing from the S1 tanks (as my car is an S2). Got the tank back yesterday and awoke with a real spring in my step at the thought of the car being back on the road. Just before refitting it, some weird instinct made me peer down the fuel feed pipe and bingo - day light! Further investigation with a torch revealed a large hole in the pipe inside the tank near where it meets the tank wall.  One concillation is that I checked before fitting otherwise it would just have been sucking air and not fuel to the carbs!

Is this a common fault? Ahhh! Back to the tank repair garage.

Never heard of this. The pick up pipe should go to the bottom directly in line with the drain plug which has a complex muck filter assembly on the drain plug itself.

The hole is where the pick-up pipe exits the tank, about 5mil from the tank wall. Can't believe I actually checked. Spot of luck, could have spent ages trying to diagnose the problem...

Tank fitted still fuelling problems Replacement standard pump didn't solve it. Next step, electric fuel pump set-up. Graham Eddy is trying to sort it, but having broken down three times taking the car around the block, when I dropped in the other day the car was sitting in the corner of his workshop awaiting the arrival of said pump. I just realised it's been almost a year since I bought the car. Who said recommissioning was an a simple job?
