I have had my brain and thought processes prodded by Stu's recent thread about the body colour for his Fulvia coupe.
Hopefully I will soon be in a position where I will be sending the B20 shell to be sprayed. Basically, Jim has finished all the welding and it is now sound. The doors, bootlid and bonnet now need his loving care and some attention from his big hammer and welder !!!! After that it will be off to the bodyshop and at that point I will have to specify the finished body colour.
The car was resprayed in the early 70's in what I was told was a Jaguar colour, a lovely rich maroon. I have only ever known the car in that colour although it is clear that the original finish was black. I have never seen a black B20 and am finding it hard to visualise what it would look like. Has anyone got experience of a black B20? If so, please share your thoughts on it. I have never been too keen on black cars as they can quickly look dirty and I really am one of the world's worst when it comes to cleaning cars !!!!!
So the big question ..... stick with the maroon which I love, or go back to black?
Jim, of course, perverse so n so that he is, insists that I should go for originality, a message also coming over loud and clear in Stu's thread on the Fulvia!!
I feel it all hangs on how good, or otherwise, does a B20 look in black?
Comments please to help me in this dilemma.
Andy

Andy, it would look pretty good in black, but you'd be washing it every day! How ever any dark shade (even maroon) would mean the same cleaning regime really.
No doubt at all it was black originally, was the colour on the original log book if you have it?
Personally, yes, it would look good in black.....when is it going to the paint shop, hoping to see it before hand!!??

WPD 10 is dark green. I would go for its original colour, B20s look good in black, my first B20 was black, see photos.

If you must have it in maroon go for the original Lancia colour, amaranto.

I've never liked black cars - until now. My favourite is the light metalic blue on Peter Harding's car. I need to find the photo from a Silverstone car park perhaps 25 years ago that used to be my pin-up. Scroll down this thread for the green one with a two tone dash. I rather like it. http://web.me.com/geoffreyg/Cars/history.htmlDavid

Pete Harding's is a special Pinin Farina colour. Here are a couple more, Mettalic grey (Although these cars are two different shades) and beige (Sorry I don't know the proper name for this shade)

I know it's getting a bit off topic, but I like this picture I took of B24 Spiders in all their colours.
