There's a 4 page buyer's guide to the Aurelia in Classic Cars this month. I thought it was a well balanced piece in terms of its view of the various models, their character, merits, different values etc. Slight fly in the ointment was the photos being mis-captioned (main featured car is a 4th Series which is described as 3rd) and photos of 3 cars for sale were all either against the wrong description (two swapped) or just the wrong model (spider rather than convertible). A bit sloppy that; but I won't be writing in with my application for pedant of the month..

They have rather messed up with the photo captions, I think they must have been confused because they drove Peter Harding's 3rd series which is the same colour as the 4th series they photographed, that was also supplied by Pete. It is such a shame that Classic Cars always go overboard with the colour saturation of their photos, in real life the B20 they had for the studio shots is nowhere near as bright a blue as they have printed it. They did exactly the same when they did an article with my B50 last year. As you say William they have also totally messed up with the photos/descriptions of the cars for sale, don't know why!

I was in the WH Smith "reading room" today - the guide was much enjoyed for what it is, but I put it back on the shelf.
The one I did buy up was The Automobile for the feature on Woodies (and to put ALL thoughts of perhaps maybe one day an Aurelia Berlina out of my mind) and what do I find but a running report on their B12. What a lovely car that is... It has just been to Peter Harding for some work on the brakes: a master cylinder conversion he does, front hoses, stainless sleeves for the front cylinders after a hone failed to seal, work on the reservoir and suspension oiling.

Got the edition this am and as luck would have it the June 1989 Classic and Sportscar edition also arrived this morning from a very pleasant ebay seller.
Comparing the two, the '89 version is a longer, nicer, more rounded read, lots of usefully detailed info and and a great input from John Savage.
Photos aren't as good, but I prefer words and knowledge as opposed to glossy pics.

My favourite roof rack picture. Hemingway and B21. I'm going to get one made for my B10. If anyone knows of an original Berlina roof rack that I could have reference photos / measurements from, that would be wonderful.

We're getting a bit off topic..... but, for a picture of a B20 with a roofrack look at the Lancia Club France web site where there are pictures of the ex-John Limmington B20 complete with original roofrack on their stand at Retromobile. http://www.lanciaclubfrance.com/retromobile2012/page8.html

I have several close-up photos of that particular B20 roof rack. The construction doesn't look like the pictures I have of B10/21/22 racks, so I don't know how useful it is as reference. I'm hoping that someone somewhere (Italy?) has a first series Berlina with an original factory roof rack. I say 'factory', but actually I'm not sure if they would have been supplied by Lancia themselves. The cars have mounting points 'ex-factory' so someone must have been making the racks (portabagagli) to an exact specification. Does anyone know more?
