I prefer making my own.... my waiting-to-be-done Zag is a sister car of the salmon pink one. K-reg and same original colour. If there were as few RHD 1600 S2 Zags as they say, then they must be part of the same batch!

Sorry, but I just had to rise to the bait....... Yes, I am aware of all these Fulvia Sports for sale and the Zagato Register records have been noted. Certainly prices seem to have been firming up and there have been one or two good sales achieved at auction recently.
The ex Franco Subbiani Sport 1600 (third one shown) is in fact Rosso San Siro (orange), the colour most of the S1 factory "Competizione" cars were finished in. Rosso Salmone is very much pink, and I must admit I have never seen one in the flesh, nor in print. The colour does exist though, and David Ashworth of Wrexham has at least a bonnet (if not the complete car?) in this colour.
Although Franco Subbiani's car (he owned it from new until sold in 2008) won a number of accolades at AGMs, its restoration done in Italy in 1998/99 removed some of the original factory finishes, and the seat trimming in particular might be very much a personal taste.
My wife and I bought our Sport 1600 when the fabled figure of 30-35 RHD cars produced was widely believed. The 'trade' now speak of 60-70; however my own research and belief is that this figure may still be well short of the truth. It would be nice to know the real figure, wouldn't it?
Regards - Roddy

Hi Roddy
I too bought my 1600 Sport when people talked of 30-35 RHD were still in existance, but that 80-90 had been built. Clearly some of those 80-90 are now being restored to boost the 30-35!
Nice cars and rare even at 60 off....

Roddy, Quite a number of years ago at Brooklands Mike Guest came in his Zagato, that I thought he said the colour was Rosso Salmoni, my recollection was that it was very pink, although I maybe wrong. Brian 8227

Yes I saw Michael Guest's example before it was exported to Japan - it was definitely pink, and all the better for it. Great colour, that. The guy who bought it took me for a spin, a really quick example in top nick, was then I believe around £4000 (in 2000 I think).

I saw a salmon pink one at the AGM in Oxford in 2002 or 2003 The car was in stunning condition if you could stomach the colour. No it's not that bad really.

Mine is also a 1600. Here it is in what I tracked down a couple of years ago as Rosso York (or, possibly, Rosso Palermo) anyway, the darker red then Rosso Corsa - code R3/R279. I have no idea now of the evidence trail but I bought the car from Omicron who had got it from Singapore where it had been "restored" and painted a Porsche metallic blue with no trace of the original colour. As it had been thickly covered with filler and then carved to a subtly wrong shape I stripped it all off and started again. I think it looks lovely!

Lovely looking car David but maybe a clue as to your criticism of Fulvia steering in another post? You have wider cromadora wheels fitted (off a 2000 Coupoe maybe) with wider tyres.

True, they came off the 1300 coupe with which I did a swap but both cars felt much the same no matter what wheels they were wearing.

I've just looked, 175/80x14 so it is somewhat over tyred. It does cling on though. Colour is Fiat Rosso Niarco.
