I wonder whether anyone can help me here? I am close to having my early Series IV B20 (Veglia Instruments) B20 3128 painted having had all the metal work done.
Remarkably there was no evidence on the car of the original colour and the Lancia factory records simply state 'grigio' as the body colour. Lechler in Italy say they think this could be one of 4 colours as they supplied the paint to Lancia for all the Series IV B20's in 1954. These are grigio chiaro, grigio milano met, grigio and grigio azzurro
They are making me up test panels of 3 of these colours (the 4th is metallic grey which I really dont like) but in describing these 3 colours, 2 of them have a lot of yellow in the mix and swing towards beige and the 4th colour is grigio azzurro which I believe is pretty much the (lovely) colour of Adrian Donovans B20 - i.e a sort of flat pale blue.

I know what colour I would like the car to be which is a mid-grey equivalent of Adrians car but does anyone have any original Lancia B20 SrsIV Lechler colour charts they could give me sight of? Or alternatively does anyone have any other suggestion?
Thanks
Chris

Chris, this has been raised by another member whom I believe is also going to have colours made up.....will post up for you, any pics of your current project, or on a thread somewheres?

Chris - only just seen your post....my colour was described as grigio celeste ( ie grey / light blue) not azzurro which is dark blue. Grigio chiaro sounds as if it could be right?  I got the formula from Francesco and had it made up here - so might be worth trying him? I'm glad you don't want a metallic - it just doesn't seem appropriate for an early car !

Chris,
Here 2 photos taken near Moltrasio at the 2003 Gita di Primavera of the Registro Aurelia.
They show the difference between the celeste of the 6th series, and the grigio of the 4th.
I think this is the grigio you are looking for.

The 4th series (also early, with Veglia instruments) was owned by Francesco Gandolfi, and I presume he still has that car.

If that's Francesco's car - it's the colour that I chose for mine. Francesco called it grigio celeste. it looks very pale in bight sunlight and much more blue back in England.

I had some of the Lechler colours made up whilst choosing the colour for my car - they are aerosols from Germany using original codes. My 4th Series is nearly ready for paint , so getting exciting

I have an Amaranto paint chip as well , but it is a Volvo colour so I can't say that it is the same as the Lechler Amaranto

ps I have sent copies of the chips to Paul Mayo for inclusion in his colours list
