Knights Rally - Fulvia trip to Turin
« on: 01 February, 2013, 10:05:03 AM »
We are starting from Beaune

Provisional Plan:

We meet on the night of Monday 2 September at Hotel Panorama (75 euro per person incl dinner)
Gentle(ish) drive (after the independently plannde blast to get to Beaune the previous day) to the lovely village of Baume les Messiers for lunch and visit the caves etc
then 3+hours drive t Aix les Bains (overnight at a Logis c 75 euros per person incl dinner).
3 hours drive to St Julien en Champsuar for lunch (20 euros per person),
then tough drive to Col de Turini (staying the night incl dinner 70 euros per person)
then drive into Italy over the tricky col de tende (very un-made road on French side) lunch (maybe Limone or Cuneo)
Staying at Hotel Barolo (great wine and food area) Thurs/Fri c 75 euros per person per night Friday investigate Via Fulvia etc and wine tasting and great driving around the Langhe region of Piedmont
Drive into Turin on Saturday morning (this is unfixed at the moment but hopefully all park up on San Carlos square)
Saturday night at NH Lingotto 75 euros perperson - farewell dinner
Sunday all depart back as you wish

This is a book yourself event and we are getting hotels to give block booking prices (details later). The window to make these bookings will be short (as we are unable/unwilling to commit and block deposits or have any admin that arises from trying to do this as a group).

I will come back in the very near future with all the details of how to book the hotels. Lunches will be paid on the day.

I NEED to know if you are interested to get numbers for these bookings. Please respond asap but no later than 1st Feb.

Hotels have been extended to 30/4 so you have today!!!!

However there has been a change in the planning using local Italian knowledge on the ground we have decided to base ourselves in the lovely hill town of Mondovi staging in a small group of lovely bed and breakfasts for the time we are in Italy ie from Thursday 5th to Saturday 7th with the Rally ending with a dinner and fireworks courtesy of the local fete in Mondovi on Saturday night. There will be a day trip to Turin possibly to visit Cavallitto and the Collezzione. A tutored Barolo wine tasting has also been organised. There will be lots to do and see in the Lange district of Piedmont while based at Mondovi including picking up the bits of the mythical Via Fulvia.

PM me if you are interested.

3hfs and Fay made it to the Start at Beaune to be joined by another S1 berlina, 4x s1 coupes, an aubergine Fanalone and 2x s1 z's. Tomorrow run down to Chambery via a small hill town, where more cars join on the way.....

All cars reached col de turini albeit 2 lost their brakes on col de bonnett (2800m) and one fulvia HF electric fan failed so boiled on the clime. Dinner started slightly later at 9.30pm as last cars only got to the col at 9.20pm.

Now installed at Mondovi Piazza and off to tour area and drink Dolcetto.

Torino tomorrow.
