Just seen this post. Why when there are 4 wheels supposedly for sale does the vendor not photograph all 4 wheels together back and front. V suspicious. Also Cromodora magnesium alloy wheels wheels are now around 43 years old - would I trust s/h wheels? And they are a devil to refurbish - see the threads on the forum. I have written earlier on the dangers of buying through www.subito.it - the only way IMHO is to go and see what you are buying BEFORE committing or sending any money. I live in N Italy and I have done this quite happily on a few occasions in my general locality and come away satisfied. And interestingly I have a Wanted advert out for FPS 13 x 5" wheels for S1 Fulvia where I have been contacted from the US by a supposed vendor. They will only accept Western Union and the price is too low so I am suspicious enough to not pursue them. Am I being too cautious? Methinks not. Chris

Hello Andrea Nistri gave me a very good lead ref. Chromodoras recently. Davide Tassi at www.cerchiautodepoca.comHe supplies both refurbed and new wheels. Andrea obtained a quote for 4off refurbed 6J x 14 Chromos. at a price of €700 including delivery to an Italian address. There is also the possibility of part exchange. Located at Bondeno near Ferrara ( not too far from Brescia and Mille Miglia) Regards Tim

Correct me if I am wrong but, were the 13" cromadoras known for cracking, hence they changed sizes to 14"

Gentlemen, I’ve just received a set of new 6x14 Cromodora replica wheels from Davide Tassi in Italy, they’re even modified to fit my S1 coupe. He’s a very helpful chap, excellent service and at a good price. I’d definitely recommend his services. As well as being able to supply replica wheels, he supplies original refurbished wheels. Well worth contacting him. I hope this helps. Trev

Hello Robin
I have been following the Fulvia restoration with great interest - well done. Don't get disheartened though, but the final 10% finishing could take 90% of the time! - the voice of experience.
However, this thread is all about 6 x 13" Cromodoras as originally fitted to your car. The wheels would have been fitted with a 175/80 x13 tyre, and no doubt the final drive gearing takes account of this. I am a great believer that you should stick with an 80 aspect tyre on a Fulvia as the side-wall deflection is taken into account with the spring and damping rates, etc. You seem to have perhaps got sidetracked into considering the S2 14" Cromodora, but have you considered what tyre size you might use and its effect on gearing?
I suspect that Roger may be right concerning the fragility of the original 13" wheels, but there are obviously 'sound ' ones still about (?); and there were also other optional 13" wheels available at the time. Perhaps someone with greater experience of using 13" wheels on an S1 Fulvia could add some suggestions where you might meet with success?
Kind regards - Roddy

Hi Roddy,
Pleased you're enjoying the Fanalone thread and yes, having restored Modestine from a rolling chassis to a deadline I hope that I'm prepared the effort that is going to be required to finish it for Fulvia 50th.
Somewhere along the way this thread has moved from 13" to 14" wheels so, just to keep set the record straight I am staying with the original 6 x 13 wheels. Problem is that I've only got 4 decent rims and need a 5th as a spare. Several useful leads have been suggested for either a replacement wheel or for firms who undertake refurbishment of mag wheels. A wheel or two needing repair have also been offered. So, I'm confident that once again through the good auspices of this Forum the problem will be overcome.
Robin.

Hello Robin
I will look forward to seeing the finished product at Fulvia 50. A coupé finished in the Zagato colour Rosso San Siro should be easy to spot!
Sorry if I raised a red herring. But perhaps worthy of consideration:- when did you last have a puncture and need the spare wheel on a Fulvia? Perhaps no oftener than on a modern car. Why don't you consider just carrying a S1 14" steel wheel, fitted with a 145/70x14 tyre? (much like a 'space saver'). An S1 wheel will have the larger centre hole to fit on an S1 hub ring flange (the S2 saloon centre is too small, but could be enlarged), and a tyre of that section might be about the same diameter as the o/e size. I know this is not the perfect and ideal answer, nor one for the purists (but then neither is the colour!), but it might be the economic temporary solution.
Regards - Roddy

'space saver'
I have a steel Skoda wheel (I think 13 inch) with a standard tyre as my space save in my sport. It might even be a 12inch. It is certainly smaller than the standard 14 inch wheel and liberates quite a bit more space in the back!! Tim
