I have been contacted to see if LMC can help achieve a world record for a gathering of PF designed cars (a lot of Lancias as well as ferraris etc).

The event is on 1st June at the Hurtwood Park Polo club

http://www.tribute-rally.com/phome/tribute-car-rally-in-memory-of-the-late-sergio-pininfarina/

Seems to good to be true but maybe if there is enough interest we should have a club stand.

Some words from the link above.

Sadly on the 3rd of July 2012 aged 85 Sergio Pininfarina died at his home in Turin, Italy. Our Tribute to honour this great man and the Pininfarina name begins with a gathering of the largest group of Pininfarina designed cars and a special Brokersclub Tribute Gold Cup Polo tournament. This event will take place at Hurtwood Park Polo Club in Horsham, Surrey in the UK on Friday 31st May, Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June 2013. There will be FREE entry to those who bring their Pininfarina cars.

The owner of the Polo Club is Kenny Jones ex Drummer of ‘The Who and the New Faces’ who has invited fellow celebrity Pininfarina enthusiasts to include Nick Mason, Eric Clapton and Chris Evans. They wiill grace the stage in a one off special tribute concert on the Saturday night. A highlight of the event will be the presence of Sergio’s son Paolo, now CEO of the Pininfarina design house, who has offered the presence of Pininfarina’s latest creation concept car called ‘Sergio’ which has its grand unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show this March.

The Tribute continues on September 30th to October 6th in the form of a rally of Pininfarina designed cars starting in London and continuing on to Monaco. With pit-stops to include the Pininfarina factory set in Cambiana, Italy and on to the Ferrari Factory at Maranello, Italy.

This event is the brain child of Markus Bockmann, a life time Ferrari and Pininfarina enthusiast, who has put together a dedicated team, who are working towards making this event, one of the most prestigious and fitting tributes to date.

I have been asked to inform you of the email (info@tribute-rally.com) to contact the organiser Gary John to let him know you are coming.

Thanks Tim, sounds very good! I have registered with Event Manager Gary John, who has replied with mention of "creating an area facing the Polo Park dedicated to Lancia. Directions will be given on arrival". Good stuff. Anyone else here going? A busy June then with Brands Masters the weekend before and the AGM at the end of the month. Two  old pics of EC

To be pedantic, it was the Small Faces that Kenney Jones was the drummer with. ;)

To be even more pedantic, he then was the drummer with the Faces after Steve Marriott jumped ship and was replaced by Rod Stewart and Ron Wood.

How could anyone resist? The invite to this, plus the Brands Masters invite makes life worth liviingi! I have not seen mention of the polo club event in the monthly mags however. Another event I have penciled in is the Crystal Palace Sprint coming up, which I last visited when David entered his B20. I guess not many young people race an Aurelia these days in Sevenoaks and District MC races(they probably wouldn't park one on the streets of SE London overnight when not in use either) Maybe some of these at Hurtwood

Have booked a slot - B20 plus possibly '58 Giulietta Spider (if I get it going by then).

The streets of south London reference reminded me of an occasion about 12 years ago when I heard some strange night-time noises outside my house in Stockwell, SW9.  Taking my life in my hands - going out at 3 am was not a sensible thing to do in our street - I found a couple of tramps having a bit of an argument as they bedded down for the night in the front seats of my Flaminia PF coupe; presumably they shared my opinion of the dangers of Stockwell's mean streets.  The door locks never did work on that car.

Locks didn't work?  I always used to leave cars unlocked so as to save the glass.

Driving past where we first lived in Earlesfield recently we pointed out where cars would get broken in to - not overlooked so only park there if desperate.  The eldest thought we meant "broken in two".  Face off and removable hifis, tales of people's dirty washing being stolen.  Had to explain what a cassette was.

Been asked to post this:

RE: FREE invitation to your Club Members

We are organising a tribute event in memory of Sergio Pininfarina who sadly past away last year.
The event which is supported by the Pininfarina family, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton and many other celebrities, is held at Hurtwood Park Polo Club on the 1st and 2nd June 2013.

We would like to offer your members free entry to our event and help us create an official world record for the largest gathering of a Pininfarina cars in one place. Each participant will receive a world record certificate signed by the son of Sergio Mr Paolo Pininfarina. See attached

The event includes the Brokersclub Tribute Cup Polo Tournament, the unveiling of Pininfarina's latest concept car "The Sergio" which will be seen for first time in the UK. Plus a Concert hosted by the owner of the Polo Club, Kenney Jones drummer of "The Faces & The Who".

Kind regards
Gary John

I see this is a two day event & wondered if people were going for both & whether the reference to a Lancia area was for both day? I may go in my 2000HF Coupe. David Bieda
