I have just bought back (!) my Aprilia, which originally became mine in June 1967, and which I sold (90,000 student miles later) in July 1983.

Time has not been kind to it - although the seller, Ben Courage, is in no way to blame for this, as he has had it in good, dry and well-ventilated storage, pending attention, for the recent past.

I paid an absolutely fair price for it, which was a mere 17 times what I sold it for.

Most of the really nice parts on it have of course disappeared, not surprising after nearly 30 years, and also all the spares, which were quite a fine collection. However the car is not very much more crusty underneath than when I got rid of it, and the doors still close perfectly.

I am just going through it to see what I need, primarily welding expertise, but I am hopeful that Aprilia-owning Club members will be as helpful as they can.

I really do not need this additional responsibility, but you can be sure that I will do my very best to return the car to the condition it should be in.

I now have the "perfect trio": Lambda, Aprilia and Aurelia B20. I never thought it was possible to get that far!

Tony,
Wonderful story and a great acquisition. Ben and I met (unplanned) in our Aprilias at a crossroads in the middle of la France profonde  -  something of a surprise !

Although I do not have the same sort of Aprilia spares holding as the very helpful Ron Francis of Clyro, I do have some stuff which you are welcome to have to bring ARX back to life. Feel free to contact any time (West London).

Great story Tony.
I used to love the 'perfect trio' correspondence in Motor Sport in the 60's and 70's and would think this could be a new topic?
My personal 'Lancia perfect trio' is Aurelia B20 Srs1 + Fulvia Berlina GTE + Integrale Evo2.
I also very much like the idea of buying a particular car for the 2nd time some years later - Jacky did it with her aluminium Fulvia Sport which we first  had in the 80's and then bought again in 2005.

You're right Tony, I should never have sold my B20!

Hi Tony, it's currently showing in the database as owned by Ben, if you'd like me to transfer it over then just me know the date. If you'd like your previous ownership recorded then we can do this too Smiley - I just need the dates for that
