Bit of lateral thinking having just read about the 3D Stratos model.  What about a buck produced by a 3D printer over which one could make panels. The handcrafted element is still there whilst using computer power to do the initial part. I struggled here for the right adjective, is making the buck 'difficult', 'boring', 'the legwork', 'tedious', or, is the buck the 'critical', 'fundamental', 'challenging', 'most important' part? Pure cowardice, I used initial. It does seem to me there are two ways of looking at the buck, possibly a mere tool or former, or is it the elemental part and simply stretching a sheet metal skin over it is 'just the easy bit to produce a panel' ?

I would have thought the elemental part, but I don't think forming the panel over the buck could ever be called 'Easy'

Sorry to be vague - I haven't the mag to hand - but wasn't there an article in Viva Lancia recently about a rare car being recreated? Although the bodywork was hand made there had been a computer involved somewhere in the process. A lot of people found the result 'too perfect' for a traditional hand made car.
