Does anyone have recolections of the Derby Arms at Inskip? The Lambda on the roof passed to Mike Clarke in 1979 I understand. There is a Pathe film on the Flickr site

http://www.britishpathe.com/video/motoring-pub-museum
and "Thoroughbred and Classic Cars" have an article in the Febuary 1973 issue on page 11.Richard

J. Wood " The cocktails one can order sound truly fascinating in themselves. A pitstop special named 'Wahinee' is described a truly tropical drink served in a coconut, which is yours to take home... 'Midnight passion' is a drink only recommended to be consumed in the back seat of a horseless carriage. "Needless to say the pub has become the headquarters of the Preston and District Antique Car Club, though the Derby Arms most familiar feature is the 1927 Lancia Lambda residing on the roof, though I'm pleased to say the engine has been removed."

It may or may not be the same pub, but the Lambda on the pub roof that I heard about is in the attached photo of it being taken down off the roof. John Turner sent me this photo in 2011 and his explanation was: "This is a picture of the Lambda Mike Clark owns being lifted from the roof of the Elletson Arms at Pilling near Blackpool, a pub owned by Stan Bannister, who also once owned my car (ZI 59)".
Remarkable!

It was definitely The Derby Arms in Inskip. I remember going there when the Lambda was on the roof - and the whole pub was covered in motoring memorabilia. It all changed when the M55 was built and traffic to Blackpool then ignored Inskip.
I went in a couple of years ago - and not a trace of anything relating to motoring remained.
The Lambda was removed years ago - so any photos of it now?

Yes, it must have been the Derby Arms, and that Pathe news-film clinched it. But John Turner rarely made mistakes and he had a fine appreciation of pubs (amongst other things), so the Elletson Arms at Pilling (which is nearby) must have had some positive association for him.
