permanent dipped beam

Now that I have replaced the duff low fuel bulb on my S1, I now have the permanent dipped headlights and also a permanent low fuel light. I don´t recollect disturbing any wiring but I guess I must have done something. Any ideas from any electrical gurus?

Maybe unrelated? Perhaps properley earth the column stalk for the headlight problem, and check the sender for the fuel lamp(not sure where that is on your car though) Also when replacing bulbs,don't assume the new ones are OK, which can lead to 'A Wild Goose Chase'! Richard

Hello David, good to from hear you  When I was putting my Hf back together after flood damage, when I pressed the brake pedal the front sidelights came on, I went through every earth, on the front and back, tried everything turned out to be a dodgy bulb the 2 filaments touching inside the glass, changed bulb problem solved. Thanks for the tips, chaps. The problem still exists. I have the red/black wire going from the lighting switch into the headlamp relay is permanently live. In my relative electrical ignorance, this afternoon´s job is to check every earth I can. I will email you some pics, Roger.

I have just had this - well it occurred to much amusement at the Fulvia 50 gala dinner - I sorted it out today. Turns out the head lamp flasher button (you have on S1 too?) was operating as the wire had pushed to close to the botton which provided the earth.

Just dipped beam - nothing else..

Thanks for the pointer, Tim, disconnecting the flasher  at the steering box end has given me back my lights. Disconnecting the buttton at the steering wheel end made no difference but progress has been made!
