I love those steel wheels and little hub caps.

I'm often asked why I don't change them for the standard Cromadora alloys, but to me they are one of the attractions of the 1300. Subtly understated!

Absolutely! Any old Beta can have the standard alloys. Those steel wheels are part of the uniqueness of having a 1300.

Of course the standard alloys aren't all Cromadoras. Many of them are FPS which I have heard are inferior. Anyone able to add more detail?

I have a few new hubcaps like those, and a few slightly used if anyone needs them. Please pm me if so. Regards, John

What has happened to this poor Beta this year? Looks like it needs rescuing before Winter kills it once and forever!

Yes, that's my old car, YAJ. The current owner called me last night to see if I wanted to buy it (no), and said it was on ebay. I searched but couldn't find it, clearly because the listing had finished.

Looks like he got his £500 for it. Hopefully not a whim buyer this time and someone who will get stuck in and restore it. It needs someone like Kevin on here who is tearing down that Evo.

I think this might work better.

He seems to be the second person who didn't really know what they were letting themselves in for and doesn't have the expertise and passion to make progress. I suspect it is only worthwhile as a labour of love by someone with an auto-masochistic streak.

"autobrown stuffe" is the translation for a-u-t-o-s-h-i-t-e

The ebay link has a link to that forum.

Thank you for the translation David.

I got onto the site, heck that is a lot of work. Sills both sides, the whole rear valance and at least one of the A pillars requiring the windscreen to come out!!!!

Good luck someone!!!!

Oh dear, it has deteriorated since I let it go 18 months ago. Keeping it in a field with the window open can't have helped! I once had to take off the door trim on a campsite to get the drivers window back up, so after that I never lowered it more than two thirds of the way down. Although the photos seem to show the passenger window down.

The distributor is a funny one. In seven years I never touched the ignition, one of the reasons being that the distributor cap screw was hard up against the cam box. The answer was to slacken off the distributor and rotate it back round, but as the timing was spot on I was shy of doing that and it ran fine for all those years.

The off side A post and sill were always going to be the big challenge. The latter was bodged by the local garage, who also passed the final MOT in October 2013, leading to a winter of use that the car could have well done without I guess.

Just to show that the NS sill was done properly!

So is this the best documented slow death of a Lancia in history?

Certainly seems that way. The latest seller is some sort of dealer. It looks like he bought it from the chap in Skipton thinking there was some quick money to be made. It appears not though; current bid £205.
