Here's the link to that thread:

...and a discussion of colour here:

...and here:

Certainly looks very similar...  Interesting to look back over those photos.  Some big holes, a big pile of scrap, and a lot of work done in a short period of time elapsed.  Aside from the interest it gives me hope!!

I've posted a question on the Stratos website James, I've got it somewhere but can't lay my hands on the sales brochure which is in a jigsaw box of the Stratos Zero..... It'll turn up when I stop looking for it! Until then, I'll let you know what pops up on the site ASAP.

The original Stratos prototype was a dayglo orange, the Stradale was quite an orange shade of red. If we don't come through for you tomorrow you could try asking Martin Cliffe? That's the colour of his car so I'm sure he'd know!

Various descriptions for the same colour James:
Red/Orange 171
Red/Orange 2-464-171
Red 2-464-171
Fiat Orange 171

Hope that helps?

If you're talking about the vivid orange on Fait 131 Sports and Fiat 127 Sports it's not the same colour James! Google Fiat 127 Orange images and you'll see!

Although I do like orange..... That's the colour the Grande Punto is!

I have not the faintest idea what that colour is, but it does look absolutely brilliant on the Stratos. I think it would also be stunning on a 1600HF !!!!

I hope you get a definitive answer soon.

Your picture of the Stratos is taken inside, so I don't think you can rely on the colour of the car, it looks like the standard Stratos red, but looks much more orange because of the lighting conditions.
This photo is of a red Stratos taken in natural daylight

Don't know if you can access this link but here's a photo of the original colour swatch and PPG paint code from the Bertone Museum collection that a couple of my friends had access to recently!

had 171 mixed today, funny thing is it comes as 2 different names, either rally red or red orange, looks very similar to the cars original colour in the tin, see what happens with a spray out, used my ppg chips and rosso corsa is much darker than the colour of my car ( I checked all 6 colour variants ) kept going through the colours and found the colour you mentioned, Ade you are quite correct about artificial light and how orange the stratos looks in the photo is how my car looked under the artificial lighting in my booth, my guess was it must be similar, I just don't understand how the car could have been that colour from new  Huh? everywhere that ive checked are areas that cannot fade, ie under the under bonnet stickers, under the dash top, behind the A post covers, anyone else seen 1 in this colour before??
