After 5 years and nearly 76,000 miles I finally had to replace one of the bulbs for the dip beam.  What I thought would be a simple job became such a fight.  I had to remove a short strut securing the light unit to the car along with the neck for the washer bottle (see photos showing everything fitted and removed).  Once both of these were removed, there was just enough room to get my hand in to unclip the bulb from the holder.  Here's hoping that the bulb I fitted lasts for another 5 years and 76,000 miles!!!

I had to have tripl jointed wrists etc to replace a sidelight in my Lybra. It was just mad the amount of space you're supposed to get an adult sized hand in. Now the other side has gone. I always think this is pretty bad design. Changing a bulb should be a one minute job, not 20 minutes and skin taken off your knuckles. I used to have a BX - that was great. You just squeezed in two plastic clips and the entire rear light assembly came off the car. That's shows a bit of thought.

Had the same problem on my old VW Passat, one side was fine , the other needs all sorts of bits taking off and then the space was just too small to get my hand in ! The Bravo is fine though Smiley

I heard on some models of Bentley you have remove the bumper and or a wing to change a bulb.

I always thought that changing the bulbs on my Lybra was no problem. I have never had to remove anything other than the necessary covers on the Lybra. And compared to the Delta, access to the lights is huge!!!

Could be I have bigger hands? Also it was the first time I'd done it so lots of peering in working out what was going on down there. It was the drivers side on my LHD. Very difficult to get my hand in to get a grip on the bulb holder rather than pull on the wires. I stood at the front, then at the side, then at the front, right hand, left hand, lots of cursing about modern cars etc but still ended up with different bits of bodywork digging in and scraping skin off. I had a quick look at the other side and from memory I think it looked a bit easier. Hope so because that's the one that has recently packed up!

Perhaps the difficulty of changing modern car headlamp bulbs partially explains why so many morons in modern cars these days run around with only one headlamp alight, I don't understand how anyone can drive with a headlamp out and not notice, but to ignore it if the do realise is criminal in my estimation, unfortunately the Police obviously don't consider it to be a problem, or at least don't consider it a priority, oh for the days of old fashion policing when the police didn't ignore law breaking and choose what laws to enforce.

I nearly hit a black Honda people carrier last week on a dark road. I'd assumed it was a motorbike and I had more room. Only it's very bright nearside light was on. Not even a sidelight on the offside which I just missed.

It's getting a lot worse with even HGVs' running on only one light, close one Neil but the more than one light out brigade also seem to be increasing, suppose it's a case that as some realise the Police don't put any emphasis on it, they just don't bother.
