as most of you already know I have 3 aprilia's infor restoration work at the moment, this months project was bulk buy on exhausts to get the price down for all of us , the order has now been done however can still be altered over the next 2 weeks .
anyway I have a few other challenges and wondered if anyone else out there is interested in future bulk buys . next bulk buys will be on brake seals and hoses , these will be the inch Lockheed S1 type , I am looking at wheel cylinder kits , master cylinder kits , possibly new master cylinders complete if required , also front hoses correct length and thread .
also Simon kindly sent me templates for the door panels in his car , as atleast 2 of the cars we are restoring need new door panels and side panels I am thinking would it be cheaper to get more than 2 sets made?? these will be bare to be trimmed by yourselves , anyone else interested .

finally all 3 cars need rear suspension bushes and steering arm bushes , all silent blocks so I intend to research and find a good quality supplier , again anyone interested please get in touch

Re bushes try Robush (sorry if that is teaching to suck an egg...) They can sometimes find bushes they do not catalogue.

thanks for the tip Tim I will , I've found someone for all the brake parts but prices depend on volume , bushes will probably be a similar case so this is an initial "see who's interested " post to get an idea of volumes required

I'm not so sure about Robush silent bloc bushes. Their rubber seems much harder, less flexible than the originals. Hills Rubber Co. in Reading will make them if you supply the metal parts, with whatever hardness of rubber you want. I haven't tried them myself, but a Frazer-Nash restorer was having some made a few years ago when I was in their shop - and he recommended them.

I had been wondering about the steering joints and why they don't bind...  They're supposed to be soft.

As a matter of interest the prices of rear suspension silentbloc bushes I bought from Cavilitto 18 months ago were:

49603 euro 15 ea (8 required)
49615 euro 20 ea (2 required) The differential in the early S1 (pre 3001) doesn't have these, see attached photo!
49616 euro 20 ea (2 required)   "         "              "                    "             "

And back in 2009 the two for the inner mount of the torsion bar, 49607 euro 25 ea (2 required)

Most, but not all, Robush Silentblocs have a Shore Hardness of 60, akin to the hardness of tyre rubber (assuming it is on the Shore A scale). This does seem to accord with my technical test ..... stick in your thumb nail!!!  The problem is that I have no knowledge of the original specification!! Is anyone able to shed any light on the original spec.?
