I think I'm going to take one of my wheels to A.R Davies in Baldock Roll Eyes
I've just sprayed my two wheels and Alpacca is nothing like the colour of my wheels on "Fay", as it's a definite beige and far too creamy while my wheels are more of an off white, when she was restored in 1997-1999 the wheels were resprayed but I was given to understand that the spare was the original Colour and the other four were painted to match the spare.
OH well by the time I'm finished they'll be plenty of paint on them!
The spray can of Alpacca was 400ml, which was sufficient to give a decent coat on the inside face of the wheel, a decent coat over the tyre recess, and a couple of good coats on the face of the wheel, on both wheels, with a little left over.
Any thoughs on using a clear laquer over the paint on the wheels, as the pack I bought of Alpacca came with a tin of clear laquer?

Talk about the things that have happened that you don't know about Roll Eyes
I haven't bought any car spray paint for a few years for a few years but since I bought my last can it seems that now you get a base coat as you do with Metallic and a clear lacquer to give it the gloss and to protect the base coat, I keep fairly well up to date so when did this pass me by?

Is this because it's possibly two pack for health reasons? Could be wrong but from what I gather with two pack, the paint goes on fairly matt and it's the laquer that gives it the gloss and protection. That's just me guessing though.

Stan,
If Alan Cooper hadn't explain about this to me last night, I'd have panicked this morning to find my wheel paint had dried matt Shocked
Still best not to breath the stuff as it's pretty potent.

Two wheels now repainted and fitted with Dunlop Street Response 165x70x14 which chugga reckons will give near enough a correct speedo, in fact it's 2mph fast at 4000 rpm reading 62 mph instead of 60mph.
A.R. Davies came up trumps with the paint colour after an hours worth of comparing colour charts.
Allowing for the fact that my old wheel painted would have faded after 16 years it's more or less spot on.

It was Fiat Avorio 228 which also has a Lancia equivalent with a touch of yellow, so Lancia 228 Avorio, Lesonal Base, mixing Ratio: Y shade,
Anyone at Goodwood tomorrow can have a look and see what they think as the rear wheels are still in the old colour.
