What a mess, and not even any pictures of the enginebay, floors/subframes etc ......

Should probably take a "0" off the price !

I'd have thought he should be offering that much to take it away,
It will cost far more than it's eventual value to restore it, and a purchaser with masochistic tendencies!

On the plus side it's got a nice dashboard!  Grin Grin Grin

The most blatant example of a so called "barn find" was an advert in a Sotheby's USA auction catalogue a few years ago. They were flogging an unrestored C type which had been in storage since the sixties and just for effect had liberally scattered some fresh straw over the bonnet. As if...

I was going to say - this is the famous 'patina' you mentioned in your article. It's getting to the point where there are more cars found in barns than there are barns in the UK.

Somehow "found in a state of advance structural collapse in a sodden Brixton lockup" doesn't sound quite as good, but I fell for it all the same.

At that price I'd assumed the dust was brown cocaine!

If you check out e-bay you can now have a suitable Flavia Coupe to go with it and it doesn't even have a good dash.

I saw this and thought ''they have got to be joking''. Hopefully there is nobody daft enough to pay £4750 and take it on. The trouble is with the general increase in classic car values some people may be taken in and rush in. There have been some awesome barn finds recently but hopefully prospective purchasers will be wary and remember that there is also a lot of rubbish tucked away in barns.

Values on stock S2 Fulvias are such that this is not worth even attempting a restoration and that's without even considering the state of the subframes and the floor. I fear that in the next 18 months or so we will see inflated prices for poor cars as speculators try and make a quick buck/euro/quid. We will also see some very fine cars as well that we can't afford.  Grin

This one is probably a better bet although that will depend on the reserve which has not been reached at the £1900 bid so far

Looks much better and a good basis for a lovely Series 1, pity no photos of the engine compartment.
