Whilst changing my oil I decided to remove my Veglia oil pressure sender to see if it had any part number markings on it to help me source a replacement.

There weren't any markings that looked like a part number, but around the oil inlet side there were some marking as follows (they might be visible in the pics): 09.01 / 0 - 8 / 3N

I assume that the 0 - 8 is an indication of the calibrated range of the sender so it will measure from 0 to 8 bar.  Does that sound correct for a Flavia 1800?

The sender doesn't look like it is an OEM part, but I've nothing to verify it against.

My Flavia2000 oil pressure gauge has a range of 0 to 70 (psi). The needle never used to get much above halfway and was unsteady. The sender was stamped 0 - 7.
I got a new sender from Omicron which was stamped 0 - 6. When installed the pointer shows just short of an indicated 70 psi once above an idle.
Hence, the actual pressure being sensed is 70 X 6/7 = 60 psi which I think is pretty healthy.

Thanks for the info Brian. I haven't tried Omicron yet, but to date I've only been able to find Veglia oil pressure senders in the 0 - 8 bar range. I should really stick a meter on the engine to get a true reading, but it seems a bit daft to buy a meter to test the oil pressure when a new pressure sender might fix the problem and only cost a few £'s more.
