Text from John Bower-BetaBoyz

Apparently a Lancia Beta will feature in a forthcoming Top Gear television programme.

I understand the programme in question will be screened on the 4th November 2007 (although schedules are subject to change!) on BBC Two.

From what I understand the Top Gear team are running a feature where they buy cars abroad (Botswana in this case) and then embark on a road trip of some description.

Details are patchy but I think the car featured is a Coupe (although the chap I spoke to wasn't quite sure). I have no idea how the Lancia performs (or not) but all will be revealed in the programme.

This is Top Gear so it's going to be a light hearted review rather than an objective in-depth study of the cars. I've been told it should make "entertaining viewing".

Maybe I'm an optimist but hopefully this might, just might, be postive coverage for the model. You never know...

I love it to be a good piece, but with JC reputation odds-on they'll make the engine fall
out and take the P*ss as usual, I really don't think we'll ever get an even handed response
from Top Gear. I had a suggestions a few years ago that we should all get tickets for top gear
en-masse and all wear beards just to hack him off
'the colonel'
(God only knows what he thinks of a Gamma)

Reckon I saw it on the preview of what's to come in the series. JC was driving something that looked like a beta / something from Mad Max Smiley

Would've loved to have driven some of those roads in an integrale !

Well not as bad as expected, in actual fact a reasonable programme considering 'his' views on Lancias

Yep, I enjoyed it and thought that all the cars came out of it pretty well considering what they went through.

Interesting to know whether they've been brought back to go in the studio or just left on the border where the program ended Smiley

Apparently Hammond is shipping the Kadett back to the UK but the Merc and Beta were given to the local mechanic....shame really as I could do with a spare auto box!
